Isabel Fry

Isabel Fry (1869-1958) was a Quaker educationalist and social reformer. Fry is known for her experimental approach to education and was the founder and headmistress of two schools: The Farmhouse School and Church Farm.

Her capacity for social reform is clearly a result of her upbringing and family, who all played significant parts in the reform of British Society. Her father, Edward Fry, was a magistrate; her younger sister, Margery Fry, was the first female magistrate in London and principle at Somerville College, Oxford; and her brother, Roger Fry, was an artist, critic, and part of the Bloomsbury Circle.
